What to Expect

At the FBC Montgomery MOPS group, we know your week is already busy. We know you got up this morning after a night of getting up a zillion times with each child. We know that little Timmy would NOT eat his oatmeal. We know that the whole time you’re driving to MOPS (We’re late again!), you’re already thinking about the unmade bed, dishes in the sink, and whether you paid the water bill yet this month. We don’t want to add to your stress or expect you to show up in anything but yoga pants and a (mostly) spit-up free shirt.

Here’s what to expect any given MOPS meeting:

Practical Help: Need some inspiration? At every meeting there will be a speaker or video that gives practical tools and insight into the specific things that are important to you.

Personal Mentoring: Meet a MOPS Mentor who has been through it all and has great advice and a willing ear.

Time to Chat: We moms need each other. At each meeting there will be time to get to know other moms in an accepting small group atmosphere.

Get Crafty: We like to try new things and be creative. Many groups incorporate a fun craft time into their meeting agenda.

Care for Your Kids: We call it MOPPETS, and it is an excellent program staffed by trained teachers who will nurture your kids in a preschool-like environment.

Laughter: Need we say more?

Our meetings are a little different each time. Sometimes we focus on our physical selves and talk about nutrition. Sometimes we focus on being moms, and talk about building traditions in our homes or finding ways to help our kids adjust to new things. Sometimes we talk about who we are as women, independent of those things that define us as “mommy”, “wife”, or “caretaker”. Sometimes we focus on our spiritual lives, finding ways to weave our beliefs into our homes. We want to be responsive to the needs of the group, so we plan meetings that we hope can meet the needs of today, while helping you dream for tomorrow.
